Iā€™m not sure what season it is in your corner of the world, but it is definitely Summer here in Ontario.

A big part of Summer for me is enjoying my garden and all the incredible fresh produce that we are blessed with in my region.

ā€œI am a great believer in the seasons. Even here in my own world, I have no relish for sweet corn in January or strawberries in November.ā€ ā€“ Pearl S. Buck

Like Pearl, I donā€™t see much point in buying Strawberries in November, so instead I binge on them when they are in season. A recent favourite recipe from the NYTCooking app is their ā€‹Strawberry Spoon Cakeā€‹. It is insanely easy, and insanely delicious. My favourite combo. šŸ“

On the savoury side, I decided to hurriedly harvest my garlic this morningā€”weā€™ve got a lot of rain coming in the next couple of days and I didnā€™t want harvest to be a muddy mess. Plus I needed to vent some tech-related frustration, so pulling shit in the garden seemed like the right thing to do.

Hereā€™s a look at just part of this yearā€™s harvest:

The basil is coming along well so Pesto is certainly on the horizon once this all gets cured.

Another favourite summer activity when I'm not busy in the studio or teaching pottery workshops is reading.

If you areĀ looking for a good Summer mystery, I recently finished ā€‹A Killer In King's Coveā€‹ by Iona Winshaw. It is the first book in a series and I really enjoyed it! If you've got any recent favourite reads, please pass them along, I'm always looking to add to my reading list.Ā
