I'm not sure how it happened, but here we are on the cusp of the first long weekend of the Summer—or at least we are in Canada. ❤️ 🇨🇦 ❤️

Other than gardening I don’t have any major long weekend plans—the weather has finally cooled down a bit after the heat dome, so it should be a nice weekend to spend outside, be it in the garden, on the deck, or out with friends.

As to the rest of the Summer, here's a look at my personal Summer bucket list:
  • As many fresh flowers in the house as I have vases to put them in
  • Tomato sandwiches on hand-built plates (heartburn be damned!)
  • Swim in as many lakes as possible, and at least two of the great lakes—Lake Superior really is the superior lake IMO, with Lake Huron a close second. I’m prepared to fight you on this
  • Porch time—lucky me I have two to pick from
  • Expand the garden a bit more, just a little I promise...
  • Make pesto—after a fierce battle with some nasty leek moths, the garlic should be ready to harvest soon
  • Bike downtown to eat gelato and try and pretend I’m back in Italy
  • Read the stack of books I just picked up from my favourite local bookstore
  • Start to tackle my insane reclaim pile (anyone wanna help?)
  • And last but not least, some studio time of course. 🤓
Funnily enough, I want to re-watch some workshop recordings from recent guest artists. When I’m moderating those I’m not able to give them my full attention, so I’m excited to dive in without distractions.

What about you? I’d love to hear what is on your Summer bucket list, be it creative or otherwise.
