December has arrived y'all! While the Winter Solstice is still a week away, it already feels like Winter up here in the great white North. At this time of year I like to cosy up with a cup of tea (currently I’m digging a nice loose-leaf masala chai from the Tea Haus), and spend my downtime feeding my creative well. This takes many shapes for me—sometimes it’s reading creative books, sometimes it’s cooking, or working on a sewing project, and sometimes it’s getting inspired by the work of other artists.

We’re throwing a Makers' Spark Members Holiday party this coming week. It wouldn’t be a holiday party without festive refreshments we've been mixing it up behind the scenes and are ready to share a special cocktail and mocktail recipe with you as we shimmy into the spirit of the holiday season.

The Makers’ Spark Old Fashioned Eh?

  • 2 oz Maker's Mark Bourbon
  • 3-5 Dashes Bitters (Orange bitters are perfect if you have them)
  • 1-2 tsp. Maple Syrup
  • Candied ginger
  • Maraschino cherry
  • Ice

Put some ice in your favourite handmade cup, then add the bitters, bourbon, and maple syrup and stir. Garnish with candied ginger and a maraschino cherry. Enjoy!

Prefer a taller bubbly cocktail to sip on? Top with some ginger beer or soda.
